Greaves won gold for his discus throw in Athens |
Leicester discus thrower Danny Greaves was disappointed at missing out on the gold medal in Beijing despite picking up the bronze on Monday. The Athens gold medallist threw 53.04m in the F44 event which was won by Jeremy Campbell for the United States. Greaves, 25, said: "Any medal is good at this level but this was not the colour I wanted. "It really baffles me because I feel I am in the best form of my life but it just didn't happen." | We are elite athletes now and it's just as competitive as the able-bodied events |
Greaves said he is determined to turn things around for London 2012. "Hopefully I'll have grown in stature, improved my technique and I'll only be 29. I think I can win gold in London. "The sport has come on so much since my first Games in Sydney. "We are elite athletes now and it's just as competitive as the able-bodied events."
