Leicester beat several BBL teams to sign veteran Windless
Leicester Riders have signed British Basketball League veteran Tony Windless for the 2008/09 season.
The 38-year-old's last success came with the Milton Keynes Lions last season when they won the BBL Cup.
Windless told BBC Radio Leicester: "Sometimes it's time for a change as it energises you all over again.
"I was talking to other other teams but I told the owners I wanted to make the deal fast and whoever came in first that's who I would be with."
Riders head coach Rob Paternostro added: "We wanted to have a veteran presence on this team and Tony is a legend of the league.
"More importantly he can play and he can score, he makes a deep team even deeper and we're excited about having him on the court."
Paternostro has seen his side win back-to-back pre-season games against teams from Lithuania and the USA, they next face Derby Trailblazers home and away on 20 and 21 September.
The Riders will open the BBL campaign against London Capital on 27 September.
