Kenny will be hoping for more Paralympic glory in Beijing

Reigning Paralympic champions Darren Kenny and Aileen McGlynn head the Great Britain cycling team for this year's Games in Beijing.

The pair are among a 10-strong squad who will be hopeful of building on the successes of Athens.

Former Paralympic swimming champions Jody Cundy and Sarah Storey have been chosen after making successful switches from the pool.

There are also places in the team for five Paralympic debutants.

World champion Anthony Kappes will be competing with pilot rider Barney Storey in the tandem sprint and pursuit events while there are also places for Simon Richardson, Mark Bristow, Rik Waddon and Rachel Morris.

Kappes had been working with pilot Jon Norfolk for the early part of the year but he misses out on selection and Kappes will ride again with Storey who he partnered to the world title last year.

David Stone, who competed in Sydney in 2000 but missed out on the Athens Games, has also been selected after finishing fifth in the recent World Trike Championships.

Kenny will be hoping to retain his CP3 individual pursuit and 1km time trial titles while McGlynn and her pilot rider Ellen Hunter will be aiming for gold in the 1km time trial and the individual pursuit.

Helen Mortimer, British Cycling's performance manager, said: "We've got an exceptional team for the Paralympic Games so it is a good opportunity to build on our success at the 2007 World Championships, where we took 13 gold medals."

British Cycling performance director Dave Brailsford added: "This team is the most professional Paralympic cycling team from Great Britain in living memory.

The very tough selection decisions which had to be made are a testament to the strength and depth of talent within the programme."
