Kappes and Storey have been dominant in their events

There were two golds apiece for Darren Kenny and the tandem pairing of Anthony Kappes and Barney Storey.

Paralympic champions Aileen McGlynn and Ellen Hunter were victorious in the 1km tandem time trial.

There were also golds for former swimmers Sarah Bailey and Jody Cundy, in his first international event.

Kenny beat old rival Javier Ochoa of Spain in the CP3 1km time trial, setting a new world record in the process, and then followed it up with another victory over Ochoa in the men's individual pursuit to claim his second rainbow jersey.

"I've wanted to win a rainbow jersey since I was 11," admitted the 36-year-old Bournemouth rider.

"It was the hardest pursuit I have ever had. I was worried about Ochoa because he has come on a lot over the last year."

Kappes and Storey set a new world record of one minute 4.529 seconds in the 1km time trial and were then too strong for their Australian rivals in the tandem sprint.

Bailey, who broke her collarbone earlier this season, was in top form in the LC1 women's individual pursuit, beating Australia's Claire McLean in a new world record of 3:51.666.

She then went on to finish third behind Chinese duo Ju Fang Zhou and Feng Zhen An in the 500m time trial.

Cundy, who only started cycling this year, was ahead of the field in the LC2 1km time trial, breaking the world record with a new time of 1:10.520.

"You can't really beat having a world record and a gold medal in the same event," he said.

"This wasn't something I was expecting to at the start of the year and words can't express how I feel at the moment."

There was also bronze for Mark Bristow in the LC1 time trial.

Great Britain will hope to add to their medal tally in the road races which begin on Friday.
