Woods has the third-fastest time in the world this year over 1500m |
British duo Shelly Woods and Brian Alldis both failed to win medals in the wheelchair races at the World Athletics Championships in Osaka. Woods, who had been in good form coming into the event, finished eighth behind Canada's Chantal Petitclerc.
The Blackpool racer had come into the race as the third-fastest racer but she got trapped on the kerb in the final lap and was unable to make an impact.
Alldis finished seventh in his race, won by Australian Kurt Fearnley.
Woods told BBC Sport afterwards: "It was a slow and tactical race. I got in a bad position in the end and couldn't get out of the box.
"I need to get my tactics sorted before Beijing next year. If I was in a good position I could maybe have done something.
"I've been racing these girls all year and you win some and lose some. There are lots of close races but you have to use your tactics to get in and out.
"But the crowd here is amazing and to race in such a big event before Beijing is perfect experience."
