Woods has been in fine form so far this season |
Wheelchair racer Shelly Woods has set a new British marathon record at the Oensingen event in Switzerland. Woods, from Blackpool, crossed the line in a time of one hour 40 minutes and 20 seconds in fourth place.
The 21-year-old was the first woman home in the London Marathon wheelchair race in April and also won the Los Angeles Marathon in March.
Dave Weir triumphed in the men's race in 1:28.19 ahead of home favourite Marcel Hug.
Weir's fellow Briton Brian Alldis also put in a good display, improving his personal best by five minutes to record a time of 1:39.31.
Earlier this week, Woods triumphed over 1500m in a world-class field at the Prattlein meeting, also in Switzerland.
