Bristol's Steve Brown pulled off the greatest result of his life by dumping world number five Terry Jenkins out of the World Matchplay Championship.

The 29-year-old from Whitchurch, who is ranked 44 places below Jenkins, is making his debut in the tournament.

Herefordshire-based Jenkins, last year's Matchplay runner-up, lost the match 10-6 in Blackpool.

Brown's reward is an encounter with in-form Australian Simon Whitlock in the second round on Thursday.
