Caven is originally from Leicester but is now based in Derby |
Leicester's Jamie Caven secured his second tournament win of 2009 with a 6-2 success over Steve Beaton in the Austrian Open Players Championship. Caven, who won the UK Open Welsh Regional final in May, forced two early breaks of throw and recorded a 103 checkout as he took a 4-0 lead. Beaton battled back, winning the next two in fine style. But Derby-based Caven, 33, kept his composure to go 5-2 up before sealing the win and title on double top. Caven move towards his place in the final with 6-0 wins over Christoph Stehmann and Felix Losan, a thrilling 6-5 victory against Andy Smith and another 6-0 win over Tony Eccles. He then saw off Kevin Painter 6-1 in the quarter-finals and Brendan Dolan 6-2 in the semi-finals. Caven won the second of two Austrian Open Players Championship tournaments this weekend, with Adrian Lewis claiming Saturday's crown.
