All-rounder White inspires Foxes

PRO40 DIVISION TWO, Grace Road:
Leicestershire 217-8 beat Glamorgan 194 by 23 runs (Leics 2pts)

Wayne White has become a one-day regular for Leicestershire this summer

Leicestershire all-rounder Wayne White produced one-day-best performances with both bat and ball to inspire only the Foxes' second Pro40 win of the season.

White hit an unbeaten 46 from 45 balls as Leicestershire cashed in on winning the toss, posting 217-8.

The 23-year-old then snapped up 4-36 in 7.5 overs to dismiss Glamorgan for 194, earning the hosts a 23-run win.

It leaves Glamorgan rooted to the foot of Division Two and still searching for their first Pro40 win of 2009.

That was despite an heroic effort from young Glamorgan batsman Will Bragg.

In only his fourth Sunday League game, having never hit a one-day fifty before, Bragg also produced a career-best knock.

The 22-year-old from Newport was ninth out for 78 as the Glamorgan innings folded against some excellent Leicestershire bowling.

Bragg enjoyed the best stand of Glamorgan's innings in company with Tom Maynard, the pair putting on 75 in 12 overs for the fourth wicket.

Leicestershire teenager Nathan Buck claimed 2-38, but White emerged the hero with an all-round performance that helped the Foxes move up to fifth in the nine-team table.
