King plays down rift with Taylor

Mervyn King insists that there is no problem between him and Phil Taylor, despite an argument between the two during a Premier League match in March.

Taylor accused King of throwing while he was retrieving his darts.

"I didn't do anything wrong," King told BBC Radio Stoke. "The way he reacted was out of order. We're fine now.

"We spoke and he apologised to me, so fair play to him. I never had a problem with him before the match, after the match or even now."

Taylor and King drew 7-7 in their first ever meeting in the Premier League in Newcastle on 5 March.

The pair are due to meet again at the Sheffield Arena on 30 April, by which time both players could have secured their passage to the finals night at Wembley on 25 May.

However, the fixture list has been amended in places because of Wayne Mardle's illness - he has pulled out of his last two matches while he recovers from mumps.

King, twice the runner-up in the BDO World Championship, is enjoying a fine first season in the tournament and currently lies third in the table.

Taylor has won the Premier League in each of the four seasons since its inception in 2005.
