Terry Jenkins has now drawn 7-7 in all his three Premier League matches |
Herefordshire's Terry Jenkins ended Phil Taylor's winning start to this year's Premier League Darts as the pair shared a 7-7 draw in Coventry. Defending champion Taylor had won his opening two matches, but had to come from 6-4 down to claim a point. Jenkins made sure of his point at 7-6, but Staffordshire's 14-times world champion earned a draw in the decider thanks to a double 16 finish. "I'm over the moon with a draw after going 6-4 down," admitted Taylor. "At 4-2 I thought I had him because a lot of players would have caved in, but Terry's a battler and he came back well." Jenkins had opened this year's campaign well with a pair of 7-7 draws. And he started well in this one, taking out double 10 in the opening leg and then 88 in the third to lead 2-1. Phil Taylor remains second in the Premier League despite being held |
Double eight saw Taylor level, and a magnificent 11-darter broke Jenkins' throw before a 13-dart leg, including a third 180 of the game, put him 4-2 up. But Jenkins not only bounced back, he then hit double top to ensure he could not lose at 7-6, maintaining his unbeaten league record. But Taylor dashed his hopes of victory in the deciding leg, hitting a 180 and then a 143 checkout to see him claw back level to share the spoils.
