Worcestershire golfer John Bickerton ended in fifth place in the Johnnie Walker Classic in Perth after leading with a round to play.

The title went instead to 18 year-old New Zealand amateur Danny Lee, who finished two shots better off.

"I enjoyed the week," Bickerton told BBC Hereford & Worcester. "It's my best one of the year so I'll enjoy it.

"There was a great crowd this week as well, it was enormous, especially coming down the last."

Bickerton had a bad start to the day dropping a shot at the fifth hole, but got back on track with a birdie at nine.

Birdies at 15 and 16 had him back within a chance of forcing a play-off if he could make up the two shots on Lee, but he only managed to par the last two holes.

"I was disappointed not to give it a bit of a run at the end," he added. "The wind was the other way today, and it made it more difficult for me.

"I hit some good shots at the end. I went for an eagle at the last, but got a par or it could have been a play-off."

Bickerton admits he is exhausted after a heavy schedule and will be taking a break.

"I'm going to Bali and then I'm having a few weeks off after seven week straight. I'm knackered."
