Baxter will captain the Manx MTB team in the Isle of Wight

Elliot Baxter claimed victory in the opening round of the of the Manx Mountain Bike Club's Summer Series, in difficult conditions on Monday.

Baxter, who will captain the Manx mountain bike team at the Island Games, completed the six-lap Elite race almost four minutes ahead of Paul Kneen.

Fifteen-year-old Nick Corlett completed the top three with an impressive ride.

Meanwhile, Andy Oram finished just under two minutes ahead of Mark Tuson to take victory in the Sports Class.

Mark Noon finished a further 40 seconds back in third, with Jacqui Fletcher the leading lady, in sixth place overall at Conrenny.
