Peter Kennaugh 26th in first stage of Giro di Sardegna

Kennaugh is representing Team GB in the Giro di Sardegna

Isle of Man cyclist Peter Kennaugh has finished in 26th place after stage one of the Giro di Sardegna, his debut road race of 2011.

Representing Great Britain, the 22-year-old finished just five seconds behind stage winner Peter Sagan.

Former world champion Alessandro Ballan finished second and Daniel Oss third.

Kennaugh is riding the Italian event, which finishes on Saturday 26 February, in preparation for the forthcoming World Track Championships.
