Peter Kennaugh wins his third British Madison title

Peter Kennaugh won his third British Madison title at the Manchester Velodrome on Saturday.

Kennaugh was teaming up with Welsh cyclist, Luke Rowe who won the title in 2010 with Mark Christian.

The pair bided their time before taking control of the race in the later stages, to gain the all important lap over Andy Tennant and Ed Clancy.

Tom Moses and Jon Mould claimed the silver ahead of Team Sky new recruit Alex Dowsett and Tom Murray.

After winning his third title, Kennaugh told Cycling Weekly: "We won that race by having a bit more strength through road racing and secondly through our race tactics.

"Luke and I have grown up together and we know each other inside out. We read the race really well."
