Rob Sorby wins third winter mountain bike challenge

Sorby finished 5 minutes 11 seconds ahead of Paul Kneen

Rob Sorby won the third round of the Manx Mountain Bike Club's Winter XC Challenge in wet and windy conditions at Archallagan Plantation.

Paul Kneen led the elite race for the first three laps before Sorby made his decisive move.

Kneen finished five minutes down on Sorby, with Phil Mackie four minutes further back in third.

Robin Arnold finished three minutes ahead of Martin Bonser to win the Sports Class, with Declan Murphy third.

Marie Morgan was the leading lady home, finishing eighth overall.

Nick Corlett continued his domination of the 14-16 age group, with a time that would have placed him second in the senior class.

Nathan Draper won the 12-13 age group, and brother William won the 7-11 boys race. Blae Cain won the 7-11 girls race.

The fourth round will be held at South Barrule Plantation on Sunday 6 February.
