Paul Kneen wins Winter Challenge opener at Archallagan

Nick Corlett set the quickest lap of the Archallagan course

Paul Kneen won the opening round of the Manx Mountain Bike Club's Winter Challenge series held in muddy conditions at Archallagan Plantation.

Kneen completed the six-lap race in two hours 38 minutes and 23 seconds to claim the elite class victory.

The 41-year-old said: "It was a long and challenging course, so I'm really happy to win the round."

Julian Corlett finished six minutes down on Kneen in second place with Philip Mackie third.

Nikki Lane won the four-lap women's event in a time of 2:13.55.

Lane finished three and a half minutes ahead of Marie Morgan in second spot.

In the juniors, Nick Corlett finished his four laps in 1:47.16, with the 15-year-old's time placing him tenth overall and securing him the quickest lap of the day.

Nathan Draper won the 12-13s race and William Draper won the 7-11s.

The second round will be held at the South Barrule Trails on 14 November.
