Riders have to climb Michaelgate 11 times during the Lincoln Grand Prix |
The University of Lincoln is to become a major sponsor of the city's annual Grand Prix. The event, which was first held in 1956, is one of the biggest events on the British cycling calendar. The eight-mile long course features the notorious steep climb up the cobbled Michaelgate in the city centre. Race organiser Ian Emmerson said: "This will ensure that the race goes from strength to strength as Lincoln's major international sporting fixture." The 55th Lincoln Grand Prix will be held on Sunday, 9 May.
