The 53rd Lincoln Grand Prix cycle race has received new financial backing from the East Midlands Development Agency. Tracy Croft, East Midlands Co-ordinator for the 2012 Olympics says: "The race allows people to experience the thrill of elite sport on their doorstep. "The Grand Prix showcases Lincoln's finest tourist attractions and receives excellent coverage," she added. The race starts at Yarborough Leisure Centre and completes 11 laps of the eight mile circuit around the city. A strong field of around 150 riders from across Europe are expected to take part. They field will also include many British riders challenging for places on the team for the forthcoming Olympics in Beijing.
