Quality field expected for Tour

Youth Tour
Peter Kennaugh and Jonny Bellis both started their careers on the Youth Tour.

Around 200 riders from the British Isles and Europe are expected to contest the Isle of Man Youth Cycling Tour from 1-3 May.

Organiser Peter Kennaugh said: "The event has gone from strength to strength over the past six years.

"It's now one of the most prestigious stage races in Britain and a great place for emerging talent.

Many of our past competitors have gone on to become British, European and world champions, as well as Olympians."

Kennaugh's son Peter Kennaugh Jnr won the youth side of the event in 2005 and the junior section two years later.

Kennaugh Jnr recently represented Great Britain at the World Track Championships in Poland alongside Manx team-mates Mark Cavendish and Jonny Bellis.

Bellis, now a professional, also came to prominence following his exploits in the Isle of Man Youth Tour.
