Arblaster wins in poor conditions

Dan Arblaster was victorious in the Guernsey Velo Club's 30 mile road race on 6 April despite poor conditions.

Arblaster, who was just back from a national road event, attacked the course from the start line.

The final sprint up L'Eree hill to the finish was frantic as the lead group pushed ahead.

But Arblaster was too quick on the climbs and he claimed victory from James McLaughlin in second and Josh Gosselin who finished third.

Tony Bleasdale was edged out into fourth on the line.

Matt Osborn finished in fifth while Tim Holmes out-sprinted Philip Touzeau to take sixth place.

Jon Osborn was eighth, Josh Owen came over the line in ninth closely followed by Steve Pipet, Tim Martin, Matt Le Huray and Ben Walden.

Richard Setters was in fourteenth with his younger brother Phil just beating Tracey Dowinton, the first and only lady to finish.
