New course record for Arblaster

Cyclist Aaron Bailey

Dan Arblaster set a new course record to take first place in the 13 mile time trial at the Reservoir Circuit.

Arblaster raced around in 31mins 36secs to beat Aaron Bailey's time of 31mins 55secs, having lost out to him only two weeks earlier.

Penultimate rider Tobyn Horton managed a final sprint for the line but was 14 seconds short of Arblaster's time.

Final rider and overall leader James McLaughlin placed seventh giving Arblaster the win and valuable points.

Terrible conditions meant that the 10 mile time trial which, was scheduled to be held on the west coast, had to be changed and moved to the Reservoir Circuit for a 13 mile time trial.

The starting positions were reversed from the overall standings, meaning that the leaders set off last.

A total of 41 riders signed on to compete in the race, with the two 6 1/2 mile laps meaning that there were riders all over the course for the duration of the race, making for interesting watching and racing.

The Under-16s also competed on the same course, with Callum Hill-Smith taking victory in 35mins 50secs to finish in 13th place overall.

Alistair Martin was second in the category, with Alex Falla 10 seconds behind in third and Alex Wilson in fourth place.
