Horton's race experience pays off

Tobyn Horton's experience from racing in Belgium proved crucial as he won the 32-mile four-lap road race around the L'Eree circuit.

Horton saw his initial break thwarted when he was reeled back in by the chasing pack.

But his speed and strength from racing in Belgium paid dividends when he attacked again just before Fort Grey to sprint for the line.

Stuart Le Tissier finished second ahead of Tony Blesdale in third.

James McLaughlin, Matt Osborn and Dan Arblaster followed them home, while 20 seconds after the front group crossed the line the second group of riders sprinted for home.

There was some minor contact amongst the riders during the sprint and Jon Osborn crashed, but the rider and his bike were fine and he managed to complete the final few metres.

Oliver Tracey won the sprint taking seventh place overall ahead of Adam Page, Josh Owen, Tim Holmes, Carl Thompson, Rob Smart, Leon Ogier and a slightly bruised Osborn.

The under-16s once again competed in a time trial and it was Callum Hill-Smith who took the victory around one lap of the L'Eree circuit, with Alex Falla second, Alistair Martin third and Alex Wilson fourth.
