Welsh cyclist Nicole Cooke says defending her Tour of Italy title is her main aim this year, despite her recent World Cup win in Belgium. "At the start of the year I targeted a few of the early World Cup races but not the whole campaign," said Cooke.
"I have other objectives this season and you can't do everything in cycling.
"Retaining the Tour of Italy, which is very important for my team, is my main mid-season aim. Then it's back to the World Cup."
Cooke, who who became the first British woman to take overall victory in the World Cup series two years ago, is now planning a period of mountain biking.
"It'll be my first serious mountain biking since my junior year in 2001," she told BBC Sport Wales.
"I'm really happy with how the road racing year has started, though, the win in Belgium was just fantastic."
