Spaniard Jose Gutierrez came home alone to win stage 20 of the Tour of Spain. Race leader Roberto Heras was put under pressure by second-placed Santiago Perez on the Tour's penultimate stage but hung on to the lead by 43 seconds.
Perez attacked Heras just under two miles from the finish at Puerto de Navacerrada, gaining about 30 seconds on the race leader by the summit.
"Roberto still has enough of an advantage to win, but I had nothing to lose by attacking," said Perez.
Eladio Jimenez of Kelme was second on Saturday, with David Latasa taking third.
The three-week Tour ends with a time-trial in Madrid on Sunday.
