Spain's Jose Julia of the CV-Kelme team won the 16th stage of the Tour of Spain from Olivenza to Caceres on Tuesday. Slovenia's Tadej Valjavec, of the Phonak squad was 12 seconds behind with Italy's Danilo DiLuca leading home a pack of four riders 35 seconds back.
Spain's Roberto Heras, of Liberty Seguro, retained the overall lead after the 190km stage, with countryman Alejandro Valverde five seconds adrift.
Kelme rider Valverde heads Spaniard Santiago Perez by one minute 45secs.
