Cornwall have won the Inter County Championship Consolation competition by a narrow margin over Hampshire. Victory for Graham Reeves in the singles, and Luke Jolly and Tony Jago, and Miriam Barberry and Brenda Sleep, in the pairs saw Cornwall lead 112-78. Hampshire hit back strongly, winning all four matches and the bonus point in the third session. Despite Derek Newton losing the final match 6-11, the south west side claimed the bonus point and overall victory. The victory marks the third occasion in five seasons that Cornwall have won the competition.
