King is hoping to make up for a disappointing World Championships |
Mervyn King joined Norfolk team-mate Tim Stone in the second round of the Welsh International Open in Swansea. King, the former world indoor champion, comfortably beat Welshman John Roberts to set up a third round clash with South African Bobby Donnelly. Stone produced what he described as a career highlight win over 12th seed Kelvin Kerkow on Monday. He now faces third seed Mark Royal on Wednesday where a win could move him into the world's top 20. Stone said: "I think that's my best career win, so I'm really looking forward to playing Mark Royal. "In previous years he's done pretty well in Wales so it's going to be a tough game, but I'm looking forward to it and hopefully can get to the quarter finals."
