Harlow lost out in the final at Potters in 2006 |
Scottish qualifier Stewart Anderson will face former runner-up Greg Harlow in Sunday's final of the World Indoor Bowls Championships in Norfolk. The 24-year-old Anderson prevented an all-England final by defeating 20th seed Nick Brett 8-2 11-8. Harlow, seeded five, beat compatriot Rob Paxton, who came through the qualifiers with Anderson, 9-8 8-4. Anderson said: "I can't believe I am in the final of a world championship. It is unbelievable." He has already accounted for fellow Scot and five-time champion Alex Marshall, 15th seed Mark McMahon and 18th seed John Price on his way to the final at Potters in Great Yarmouth. | Stewart will be a force to be reckoned with tomorrow Beaten semi-finalist Nick Brett |
And the defeated Brett believes Anderson, the world junior champion from Cumnock, could be a surprise winner of the title. "I did not settle and he was sensational," said the Englishman. "He will be a force to be reckoned with tomorrow." Anderson eased through the first set and it looked all over after he moved 7-2 ahead in the second before Brett threatened a fightback. The second semi-final was a more topsy-turvy affair, with Harlow scoring four at the opening end before falling 8-4 behind then coming back to clinch the first set. It was the greater experience of the 2006 runner-up from Ely that told in an equally tense second set.
