Marshall & Gourlay make progress
bowls
Scotland's Alex Marshall has won through to the semi-finals of the World Indoor Singles at Potters in Norfolk.

The three-time champion, who is chasing a record fourth triumph, defeated England's Billy Jackson 8-4 7-6.

The seventh seed will now face world number two Jason Greenslade after the Welshman beat English qualifier Jamie Chestney 9-9 9-6.

Australian David Gourlay beat Andy Thomson 6-7 12-3 2-1 and now faces English top seed Mervyn King.

King was a 7-5 10-6 winner over Welshman Robert Weale on Thursday.

The 39-year-old Marshall, from Tranent in East Lothian, said: "It was a scratchy game - and the rink behaved completely differently from the way it did in practice."

Victory in Sunday's final - which will be shown live on BBC Two from 1410 GMT - would make Marshall the first four-time winner of the title.

"If it happens, it happens, but I'm not putting myself under any pressure. I'm just taking one game at a time."
