Falkner battled back against Dawson in the first set |
Holder Ellen Falkner beat Scotland's Karen Dawson 13-8 9-4 to reach the last four of the Women's World Matchplay. She now faces English compatriot Debbie Stavrou who edged out Kiwi fourth seed Noreen Stratford 10-5 7-8 2-1.
There was better news for Scotland later, when former world junior champion Caroline Brown defeated the USA's Rosa Gandara 13-4 10-2.
England's Carol Ashby completed the semi-final line-up with a 7-6 8-7 victory over second seed Jo Morris.
Top seed Falkner came back from 4-8 down in the first set against the unseeded Dawson.
"We both had chances in the first set, but I just kept plugging away," she said.
Third seed Brown, from Motherwell, admitted she has expected a tougher match against Gandara.
"I wasn't pushed today, though Rosa was unlucky a couple of times," said the 26-year-old.
Unseeded Stavrou admitted she had already achieved one of her main goals.
"My first aim was to get into the semi-finals, and therefore guarantee my appearance in next year's event," she said.
"But now my aim is to win the title,"
