Leicester Riders ended their four-match BBL losing streak with a convincing 93-78 away success over the still winless Essex Pirates. A young Pirates side stayed in touch in the first period but when Riders surged ahead the home side could not respond. A 13-2 run gave Pirates a strong start but an 8-2 tear by Riders helped them take the opening period 24-27. And bursts of 16-2 and 11-3 in the second saw the visitors build a 55-39 and they held on with relative ease. A Tanner Adu three did briefly give spirited Pirates hope, but Riders responded with an 11-1 run to lead the end the third stanza 72-56 ahead. And a 11-4 start to the fourth quarter secured Leicester's win, despite a late 18-2 home run.
