Smith won two EBL Division One titles in his previous spell as coach

BBL outfit Worthing Thunder have appointed Gary Smith for his second spell as head coach.

Smith, who takes over from Dave Titmuss on a two-season deal, will take charge for Saturday's BBL Championship match with Guildford Heat.

Smith told BBC Sussex: "I'm looking forward to start coaching again with the Thunder. A lot of people already know me and it's nice to be back.

"I want to plan for this season then look where they future takes us."

He added: "We have to stay working together and the players have to enjoy playing along side each other.

"My blueprint is to play hard first and foremost, with a solid defence."

Thunder chairman Frank Gainsbury said: "Gary's appointment will be for both this season and the next campaign.

"It will be with a view to allowing him to develop and build some stability in the playing squad."
