Zabas averaged 15 points a game for the Thunder last year

Lithuanian guard Evaldas Zabas has formally requested a transfer from the Worthing Thunder.

The 21-year-old made 21 appearances for the BBL outfit last season and re-signed in September.

Club chairman Frank Gainsbury said: "Obviously we are extremely disappointed that after having made such a significant signing.

"It is a shame but there would appear to be little point in holding on to player against his wishes."

He added: "The performances in last weekends' matches demonstrated the enthusiasm, commitment and team work of the remaining members of the squad.

"We will seek to strengthen the squad further at the earliest opportunity."
