McKnight is player-coach with Heat |
Guildford Heat head coach Chad McKnight was left disappointed after a double defeat at the weekend. Heat were narrowly beaten 98-97 away at Milton Keynes Lions before losing 71-78 to Plymouth Raiders on their home court, Guildford Spectrum. McKnight told BBC Surrey: "It was clearly a disappointing weekend for us. We played two hard games but we lost them both. "We are coming to the new year and we need to get things back on track." He added: "In Milton Keynes, the Heat team showed a lot of character to fight back after being 22 down at half-time. "There was just one point in it in the end. We even took the lead at one point but let it slip within the closing minutes of the game. McKnight continued: "Our home game against Plymouth Raiders was also disappointing. Mike Martin was sick and couldn't play, which definitely impacted on us. Despite that, we managed to take control of the game and led by 15 points at one point. Again, we let this slip, which is very frustrating." "If we can win the next two or three games, we could put ourselves back into a stronger position in the league. We need stay positive and move on," McKnight added.
