Marriot made his BBL debut at the end of last season

Plymouth Raiders have promoted Jay Marriot to the first-team squad for next season's British Basketball League Campaign.

Marriot spent most of last season playing for Raiders II in Division Two, but trained with the Raiders BBL side.

The 26-year-old, who was born in Plymouth described his selection as a "dream come true".

He said: "I'm excited to be part of this Raiders team and I'm hoping to bring a great deal of versatility."

Raiders' head coach Gary Stronach said Marriot's form over the course of last season had been instrumental in his call-up.

"Jay had a great season in Division Two last year and I was impressed with his attitude and willingness to work hard in every day practice," said Stronach.

"He's going to help us a lot off the bench this season at the shooting guard small forward spot."
