Mooney has now switched his attention to the play-offs

Everton Tigers director of basketball Henry Mooney believes his side cannot win the BBL league title after losing 89-79 at Newcastle Eagles on Tuesday.

Newcastle beat Everton for the second time in three days to extend their lead at the top of the BBL to 10 points.

"It looks as if the league is done for us and Newcastle will go on and win the League," he told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"We have to find a way, within the next five weeks, to beat them on a neutral court in a play-off."

Despite losing their last two matches, Tigers sit second in the BBL.

Mooney remains confident that Newcastle and his own side will complete a league one-two and go on to meet in the BBL play-off final.

"We are way ahead in second spot and I know we can beat everyone else. We can beat Newcastle, we just have to find a way to do it in the next five weeks," said Mooney.
