Newcastle's Moore was the leading scorer in the win over Everton |
The Newcastle Eagles set up a repeat of last season's BBL Trophy final when their 88-77 win over Everton set up a showdown with Guildford on 15 March. Trey Moore's 26 points led the Eagles to a 176-159 aggregate win and a fifth successive Trophy final appearance. Newcastle held a six-point cushion from the first leg but came under pressure when the visitors led 62-58 in the middle of the third quarter. But the Eagles allowed only 10 points in the final period to seal the win. Tafari Toney added 18 points for Newcastle, who will play next month's final at the Spectrum in Guildford, the arena at which they secured the BBL Championship last season. Andre Smith led the scoring with 20 points and Marcus Bailey added 16 for Everton, who were looking to add the Trophy to last month's triumph in the BBL Cup.
