EJ Harrison's 22 points led Guildford to their second straight Trophy final |
Guildford Heat eased into the BBL Trophy final by beating the Plymouth Raiders 90-85 at the Spectrum. The Heat, who did the hard work in Saturday's 21-point win in Plymouth, took the tie 187-161 on aggregate. EJ Harrison led the Heat's scoring with 22 points and Michael Martin and Keonta Howell added 20 points each. Plymouth, the 2007 Trophy winners, were led by 18 points from Gaylon Moore and 17 from James Noel, but did little to raise their hopes of winning the tie. Although the Raiders had a seven-point lead in the second quarter, Guildford came back to lead 55-51 early in the second half after hitting a 12-4 run. As holders, Guildford will host the final at the Spectrum on 15 March. Their opponents will be either Newcastle or Everton, who play the second leg of their semi-final at the Metro Arena on Friday. The semi-final win comes just five days after the club announced it had been forced into administration following the withdrawal of a major sponsor.
