Newcastle Eagles took their first steps to avenging last season's BBL Cup defeat to MK Lions with a 87-81 win away at Bletchley on Friday. Eagles bounced back from 81-65 down to tear past the Lions with a string of three-pointers in the final period by captain Andrew Bridge. Forward Trey Moore then netted crucial two-pointers to stretch the lead. And the win was given further polish by Eagles' Lynard Stewart whose two-point shot slipped in just before the buzzer. Fab Flournoy's Eagles now lead the British Basketball League after taking three wins from three games. Meanwhile the Eagles have parted company with GB star Andrew Sullivan, after the power forward secured a move to Russian Superleague side Samaras. Sullivan had been on a short-term deal with Newcastle after leaving French side Mons at the end of last season.
