Jackson is excited about his future following his arrival on Tyneside
Newcastle Eagles point guard Reggie Jackson has revealed the reputation of coach Fab Flournoy helped sway his decision to join the club.
Jackson, 23, was informed of Flournoy's calibre by his coach at US college side Duquesne Dukes and admitted the early indications have been impressive.
"I like him a lot, he's really passionate about basketball," he told BBC Radio Newcastle.
"The passion carries to the players and makes everyone play harder."
Eagles have struggled to fill the point guard position since the departure of TJ Walker in 2007, and Jackson is keen to set about making the role his own during this campaign.
"I want to contribute to the team the best I can and make the team better," he said.
"I just play hard, go all out, play 100%, try to defend, hustle and just try to do whatever I can in the course of the game."
Jackson arrived in Newcastle in time to appear in the Eagles' 86-70 win against Team USA Select, contributing 10 points in the process.
