Gutierrez, who has four caps, joined Newcastle from Real Mallorca in July

Newcastle midfielder Jonas Gutierrez could be out of action for up to three weeks after picking up an injury while on international duty with Argentina.

Gutierrez lasted only 16 minutes of the 1-1 draw in the World Cup qualifier with Peru last week before being forced off with a shoulder injury.

The 26-year-old will now remain in his home country for medical treatment.

Magpies team-mate Fabricio Coloccini also took part as well as appearing in the 1-1 draw with Paraguay.
