Newcastle Eagles have added University of Houston forward Tafari Toney to their ranks for the 2008-09 season.

The 21-year-old becomes coach Fab Flournoy's second summer signing after Trey Moore, and the New Yorker has been tipped to shine at the Arena.

"Tafari can be an exciting player for us because he is very fit and extremely athletic," said Flournoy.

"He can dunk the ball and block shots while he is solid on defence and that is very important for us."
