Beckles is hoping to return to the NBA later in his career

New Plymouth Raiders signing Kwbana Beckles says he and his team-mates are focused on winning the BBL title.

The Raiders lost in the semi-finals of the BBL Championship last season and the 27-year-old forward wants to win in his first season in British basketball.

"All the guys want the championship so we're going to do everything possible to get it," he told BBC Radio Devon ahead of Saturday's visit to Worthing.

"From day one, the coach has stressed he wants the championship."

Beckles hopes a good season with the Raiders will help his chances of being picked to play in the NBA next season.

"I was the last to get released by the Toronto Raptors in their summer league team," he said.

"It drives me to work harder this season in Plymouth and get a better chance going back to the Raptors next season."

After Saturday's opener at Worthing, the Raiders' first home game of the season is against Scottish Rocks on Sunday, 5 October.
