Drew Lasker top scored for the Raiders with 27 points |
The Plymouth Raiders began the 2008-09 BBL season with a 104-80 win at newly-promoted Worthing Thunder. They did it the hard way after falling behind to a 21-0 opening deficit in the first quarter. But the Raiders then hit 27 unanswered points to take a six point lead into quarter time and were 48-38 ahead at half time. From there they never looked back and extended their lead throughout the second half to ease to victory. Drew Lasker began the new season where he left the old one, top scoring with 27 points while new signing Kabama Beckles hit 16 on his competitive debut. Gaylon Moore also scored 16 while Gavin Love chipped in with 15 and DeAntoine Beasley scored 10 in his first game since returning from the USA after visa problems. The Raiders have their first double-header of the season next weekend as they go to London Capital on Saturday before hosting the Scottish Rocks on Sunday in their first home game of the season.
