Westbrooks has played high school and college basketball in the US
Leicester Riders have signed Ireland point guard Isaac Westbrooks after he impressed during open trials.
The 23-year-old helped the Riders win the Leicester International Tournament after successes over teams from Lithuania and the United States.
Westbrooks has experience of playing in the US and was in Iceland last season.
He told BBC Radio Leicester: "I like to get my team-mates involved and also bring energy to the game at both ends of the court."
Rob Paternostro's Riders beat Lithuanian side Meresta 85-66 on 12 September and followed that up the next evening with a 92-66 win over a USA Select touring side.
Westbrooks has a basketball pedigree: "I went to high school for a year in Colorado when I was 17 and then I played college basketball for two years in Chicago. My family play as well, in fact my dad has just retired at 50."
He added: "As for the squad here, I like the guys, and we certainly have a great core and a lot of experience, and I'm also looking forward to learning from new signing Tony Windless."
The Riders have two more pre-season games on 20 and 21 September. They play Derby Trailblazers at the John Sandford Centre before travelling to their East Midlands rvials the following afternoon.
Leicester open the BBL campaign at home to London Capital on 27 September.
