Chad McKnight is popular among Heat fans

Chad McKnight has re-signed for Guildford Heat after spending a year with rivals Leicester Riders.

The 24-year-old forward, who stands at 6ft 8in, emerged a fans' favourite in the Heat's early BBL seasons.

Head coach Paul James told the official website: "Having Chad back at the club is just fantastic.

"Chad, without question, has played his best basketball here and been a real hit with the Heat fans. I look forward to working with him again."

James, who is looking to maintain the Heat's position as one of Britain's leading clubs, added: "I fully expect him to lead by example as the rebuilding of the team begins.

"At only 24 years of age, Chad I believe has still to show his true potential in the BBL, so I'm hoping for big things."

The defending BBL play-off championship & Trophy double winners' first game of the 2008/09 season is scheduled for Saturday, 18 October against Cheshire Jets at the Guildford Spectrum.
