Moore has been a target for a number of European clubs |
Plymouth Raiders have almost completed their squad for the upcoming BBL season with the signing of forward Gaylon Moore on a two-year deal. Moore, like fellow Raider Drew Lasker, had garnered considerable interest from European sides following his performances last season. The 30-year-old averaged 14 points and nine rebounds per game last season. "He's vitally important for us, with his experience and drive to win," coach Gary Stronach said. Moore is a naturalised British citizen, meaning the American does not count towards the club's quota of foreign names. But it also means he was equally attractive to European sides as he was able to play freely in the European Union. "He's someone that a lot of teams would love to have on board. We had to fight hard to get him this summer, with offers on the table from Spain and Iceland to name but a few," Stronach said. | There are a few players on the radar and I'm still just as busy talking to players Raiders head coach gary Stronach | Moore graduated from Union University in Tennessee in 2000 and came to play in the UK straight away, first for the Edinburgh Rocks (which later became the Scottish Rocks) and then onto EBL side Worthing before joining Plymouth in 2005. His signing means the Raiders have got their entire starting five back from last season and have one more space in the squad to fill. "There are a few players on the radar and I'm still just as busy talking to players, agents and other coaches, gathering information to put together the strongest squad Plymouth has ever seen," Stronach said. "We'll be legitimately 10 players deep this year, and everyone will have their roles and jobs to do."
