Beasley top scored after returning from a shoulder injury |
Plymouth Raiders secured their first ever BBL finals berth with a 91-73 win over Sheffield Sharks on Saturday. It was the home side's third win over the Sharks this season as DeAntoine Beasley lead the scoring with 26 points and Drew Lasker added 22. The result means Sheffield are absent from the championship play-offs for the first time in eight years. The Raiders go into the final four with momentum after recording their third straight win. The game was tight at the start with both sides tied at 9-9 in the first quarter before a Drew Lasker burst saw the home side lead 23-13 at the turn around. A 12-5 opening to the second stanza from the Raiders saw them post a 35-21 lead before Sheffield came back to end the first half 45-38 down. The Sharks rallied in the third quarter to claw the score back to 45-40 but then a Beasley triple helped put the Raiders into a commanding 52-40 lead. They then stretched their lead to 72-54 and, despite a late fight back from Sheffield, the Raiders held on to record their historic victory.
