Elizabeth Cann reached the French Open quarter-finals with an impressive victory over third seed Pi Hongyan in the second round in Paris. The Commonwealth Games bronze medallist from Jersey triumphed 21-13 21-12 to set up a last-eight match with Thailand's Portntip Buranaprasertsuk. Rajiv Ouseph also reached the last eight of the men's singles. And Nathan Robertson and Jenny Wallwork were among the British doubles teams to reach the quarter-finals. But it was four-time English national champion Cann who took centre stage with one of the biggest wins of her career. In winning bronze in Delhi, Cann became the first person from Jersey to pick up an individual medal since 1990.
